International Cooperation in Sustainability: Carbon Footprint Training from OMU to Europe

Samsun İlkadım Derebahçe Middle School English teacher Emel AKAY led a meaningful activity within the international eTwinning project “ECO FOOTPRINTS, GLOBAL IMPACT,” carried out in collaboration with five schools from Türkiye and partner schools from various European countries including Romania, Portugal, Poland, and Croatia.

Assoc. Prof. Hülya AYKAÇ ÖZEN, Deputy Director of ÇEVSAM and Vice Chair of the Environmental Engineering Department at Ondokuz Mayıs University, met online with teachers and students from the partner countries and delivered her presentation titled “From Awareness to Action: Measuring Your Carbon Footprint.”

The presentation addressed the impacts of climate change, methods for calculating individual and societal carbon footprints, and practical approaches to sustainable living. With the active participation of students from different European countries, this international event marked an important step toward raising environmental awareness among young people.
