KITAM Environmental Measurement and Analysis Laboratory
Wastewater analyses are instantaneous or periodic analytical studies carried out to ensure that water used, generated, or discharged in any area does not harm living organisms or the environment. It is essential to determine the compliance of domestic and industrial wastewater discharged into wastewater infrastructure facilities or receiving environments with the relevant regulations. The Ministry is authorized for the inspection of any wastewater discharge into receiving environments in accordance with the Environmental Law and the Law on the Organization and Duties of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
Organizations subject to the Environmental Permit and License Regulation must have their domestic/industrial wastewater analyses performed by laboratories accredited by TÜRKAK and authorized by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, in accordance with the Water Pollution Control Regulation. Sectors that contain hazardous substances in their wastewater must comply with the Regulation on the Control of Pollution Caused by Hazardous Substances in Water and Its Environment, and all other wastewater-generating facilities must comply with the notices, decrees, and regulations issued by the Ministry regarding wastewater discharge.
The OMU KITAM Environmental Measurement and Analysis Unit is a wastewater analysis laboratory within the Black Sea Advanced Technology Research and Application Center (KITAM). The TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Management System has been established at KITAM, and accreditation studies have been completed in the Environmental Measurement and Analysis Unit.
The analyses carried out in our laboratory are listed below:
- Measurement of physical parameters (pH, temperature, conductivity, salinity, dissolved oxygen)
- Suspended solids (SS)
- Dissolved solids (DS)
- Total solids (TS)
- Chemical oxygen demand (COD)
- Chromium (+6) Cr+6
- Oil and Grease
